Portable by design. Verified by evidence.

The current Nulx line targets modern x86-64 computers and the major VM families. Every host keeps its own verification status.

Current architecture

x86_64 / amd64

The current build and release pipeline produce one separate 64-bit x86 ISO.

Next architecture

ARM64 planned

A separate ARM64 build starts after the amd64 public Beta gates pass. No ARM64 image exists today.

Firmware

UEFI first

UEFI is the validated path. The hybrid ISO may boot with legacy BIOS where the host supports it; Secure Boot is still under evaluation.

VM sizing

4 GB / 40 GB floor

Use 8 GB RAM and an 80 GB virtual disk for the recommended desktop and security-profile experience.

Hyper-V Gen 2

Install verified

Clean live boot, Calamares installation, ISO ejection, direct virtual-disk boot, and Nulx greeter arrival passed.

QEMU / KVM

Runtime verified

Exact-hash OVMF live boot, desktop, themes, installer launch, lock screen, and greeter passed. A clean install cycle remains.

Proxmox VE

Not tested

The QEMU, VirtIO, and SPICE integration path is implemented. A real Proxmox host must pass the full install procedure.

VMware

Not tested

Debian Open VM Tools are included in the new source profile. VMware host installation and desktop integration still need evidence.

VirtualBox

Not tested

Debian's kernel supplies VirtualBox guest modules. Host-supplied Guest Additions remain optional and are not bundled.

Release rule

No universal claim

A related driver or shared hypervisor family is not enough. Each host must pass its own immutable-hash install and direct-boot test.
