Bringing the beta image together

The next beta image has its packages, desktop defaults and license inventories in place. Boot-file and privacy checks are still in progress, so downloads remain closed.

  • All 1,501 selected packages are configured in the image-building copy. Separate checks passed for the live-session launch files, desktop defaults, Nulx access helper and current license inventories. These are image-preparation results, not approval of a bootable ISO.
  • The approved beta selection contains 116 reviewed wordlists, each with a compressed copy. Their packages passed build, upgrade and clean-install checks in isolated test roots. Delivery and ordinary-user access must still be checked on the final ISO. Full upstream SecLists and original RockYou are deferred.
  • All 64 catalog tools remain installed and startup-tested on the development system. Nmap is a manually operated tool, with no execution, skill or MCP route in Nulx AI. Local AI ping tests retain explicit review, one-use approval, cancellation and separate result-sharing consent.
  • Generated boot files, final-image privacy and complete source delivery remain open. The final candidate must also pass clean installation, reboot, Secure Boot, accessibility, hardware, update recovery and signing checks. The public signed update channel is not ready, and no public ISO is approved.

App upgrades and guided lab checks

The latest Nulx app upgrades retained existing user data without reinstalling the system. Selected wordlists are installed, and local ping checks exercised the AI command-review flow.

  • All 64 catalog tools remain installed on the development system. The organized wordlist selection includes 110 files with compressed copies. Full SecLists and original RockYou delivery still need review.
  • Installed local ping tests covered explicit review, one-use approval, cancellation and private action history. They used the local loopback address with no account or model calls. They do not establish general autonomous scanning or wider online-action support.
  • The installed app upgrades preserved existing user settings and data. The public signed update channel, system security updates and wider upgrade recovery tests remain unfinished.
  • No public ISO has been released. Licensing and required source delivery, fresh installation and reboot, Secure Boot after kernel updates, physical hardware, accessibility and release signing still need acceptance.

All 64 tools installed and startup-tested

The development installation now contains every tool in the 64-entry catalog. Launcher recognizes them as installed, and each executable passed a startup check. The public beta is not released yet.

  • These are real installed packages and executable checks, not a count of menu shortcuts. Startup testing used help or version commands. It does not establish that every tool workflow or hardware feature has been tested.
  • Focused functional tests passed for Ghidra analysis, Radare2 binary inspection, Zeek reading a generated capture, Nmap checking a local test service, and a mitmproxy HTTP roundtrip. The fixtures used owned data in an isolated network environment. Firejail also passed ordinary-user sandbox and AppArmor checks.
  • Package consistency and dependency checks passed after installation. Existing service safeguards were preserved, with no new running services or listening endpoints. Secure Boot was enabled in the Hyper-V test installation. This does not certify a final ISO or physical hardware.
  • The installed desktop now has one top panel with the menu, app shortcuts and virtual desktop switcher. All five themes, including Spectrum, passed visual smoke checks. Launcher and Command Center are separately packaged, and menu routes start actual tools. Complete keyboard, accessibility, reboot and menu coverage remain open.
  • The missing Zeek license records have now been delivered in a separate documentation package. The refreshed inventory passes for all 2,072 installed packages, with the existing program packages unchanged. This checks package versions and license-file coverage, not every third-party redistribution obligation.
  • Before a public ISO can ship, we still need to complete third-party notice and source review, integrate the accepted packages into reproducible image inputs, and test a fresh installation. Exact upstream inputs have now been matched to all 18 native components bundled with mitmproxy. Its remaining component, source and maintenance review is still open.
  • Wordlist delivery, wider AI account and reviewed-command tests, signed updates, hardware coverage, stability and release signing remain on the roadmap. No public ISO has been released, and no release date is promised.

Package safety checks and a Spectrum preview

Newer application packages, guarded command policies and the Spectrum neon theme have passed focused checks. Their installed-desktop acceptance is still pending.

  • The latest broad source run completed 1,394 tests: 1,142 passed, 252 were skipped, and none failed. Separate Linux checks covered private-history storage failures and updater interruption handling. These tests used isolated fixtures, not a real scan or a failed production update.
  • Four storage-failure cases verified how action history handles short writes, writes that make no progress, partial failures and failed synchronization. These checks do not prove recovery from power loss or final-image readiness.
  • Spectrum is an optional fifth theme with colored neon window outlines. Native KDE previews and isolated package checks passed. It has not yet been accepted on the installed desktop, and Obsidian remains the default.
  • The previously tested installed AI still provides the single-window chat and saved-account reconnection milestone. Newer packages have not replaced that baseline. The intended desktop uses one top panel, while the older installed baseline still has a bottom dock.
  • No public ISO has been released. All 64 catalog tools and organized wordlists remain the beta target, with seven routes still awaiting approval. Installed upgrades, final desktop checks, signed updates, hardware tests and release signing remain open.

A simpler Nulx AI, tested on the installed system

Online chat now sits beside the Offline Guide in one window, with quieter controls, more conversation space, and subtle neon accents.

  • The installed app reconnects to the saved account, keeps unsent drafts when switching modes, and closes cleanly. Account details and learning starters stay folded until needed. Fresh account sign-in can still open the official browser page.
  • Real account sign-in, one learning response, and reconnection after app restart and system reboot passed during this development cycle. These are bounded checks, not full provider or action acceptance.
  • The AI package was upgraded without reinstalling the OS. Other package records and the saved account were preserved. At this earlier checkpoint, the focused native Linux suite passed 219 tests. The broad source run completed 1,119 tests, including 240 platform-specific skips.
  • No public ISO has been released. Final desktop integration, accepted-tool installation, wider account and action checks, signed updates, hardware testing, licensing, and release signing remain.

Desktop integration and beta preparation

Live-session tests now cover the top panel, virtual desktop switcher, categorized tool menu, and separately packaged Nulx apps.

  • Launcher, Command Center, Terminal integration, and Nulx AI packages have undergone focused tests. These results do not replace a fresh installation of the final ISO.
  • Work continues on the remaining tool packages, organized wordlists, account-based AI, and a signed update channel.
  • The next release must pass installation, reboot, Secure Boot, and stability checks before downloads open. The public GitHub repository is ready for questions and bug reports.

Window layout fixes and clearer installed-tool checks

Corrections to titlebar gaps, overlapping menu text, and Terminal transparency have passed native Linux source tests. The next ISO still needs installation and visual checks.

  • The full native source suite passed 465 tests, with three explicit platform skips. These results are not a substitute for testing the installed ISO.
  • A read-only inventory check now distinguishes installed packages from optional tool profiles and checks package-version and license records. The base installation does not include all 57 reviewed tool packages.
  • Public beta release approval, signed delivery, broader hardware coverage, and complete visual acceptance remain open. No public ISO is available yet.

Desktop-style fixes pass build and source checks

Changes to the default desktop style and virtual desktop switcher passed source validation, secret scanning, and the development ISO build.

  • The style setup now checks that the requested appearance is active and restores the previous settings if it is not.
  • The development ISO build completed. Visual and interaction tests on that image were still required at this checkpoint. No public download was released.

The official website launched at nulxlinux.com with project information, documentation, and development status. No public ISO was available at launch.
