What is Nulx?

Nulx Linux is a Debian-based desktop for cybersecurity students and lab users with basic Linux knowledge. Its own Launcher, Terminal, Command Center and AI guide bring tools and everyday tasks together.

Current progress

• An earlier development image passed a clean Hyper-V installation and direct disk boot.
• Installed desktop tests cover the top panel, virtual desktops and separately packaged Nulx apps.
• All 64 catalog tools are installed and startup-tested on the development system. This is not approval of a public ISO or every tool workflow.
• The next beta image has 1,501 configured packages, verified live-session defaults and matching license inventories. Generated boot files, complete source delivery and final privacy checks remain open.
• Nulx AI now combines local guidance and online chat in one window. Real sign-in, a learning reply, and reconnection after restart and reboot have passed in development tests.
• Recent Nulx app upgrades retained existing user data without reinstalling the system. The beta selection contains 116 reviewed wordlists with compressed copies, tested in isolated package installations. Final-ISO delivery and ordinary-user access remain open. Full upstream SecLists and original RockYou are deferred.
• Local AI ping checks passed review, one-use approval, cancellation and private-history tests without model calls. Nmap remains manually operated with no Nulx AI execution route. Wider actions, signed public updates, final-candidate security checks and final-image acceptance remain open.

Follow the beta

There is no approved public ISO yet. Read the development updates and public repository before planning an installation. A tested development component is not the same as a tested release.
